Meet Coach Reed
Hi, I’m Reed, founder and head coach of Reed Performance Lab.
I competed in track and field at the Division I level at Abilene Christian University on a full athletic scholarship, specializing in the sprints. My time as a collegiate athlete helped me develop not only as a competitor but also as a student of performance, training, and sprint mechanics.
Personal Bests:
• 100m – 10.52
• 200m – 21.20
• 60m – 6.80
• 40 Yard Dash – 4.32
After graduating with a degree in Finance, I transitioned into professional track and field, continuing to compete at a high level. In 2025, I ranked within the top 1000 sprinters globally.
For the past four years, I’ve coached middle and high school athletes in sprint development, focusing on proper mechanics, acceleration, top speed, and long-term athletic progression.
My coaching philosophy is simple: speed is a skill that can be developed with the right training and understanding. I don’t just aim to make athletes faster — I teach them how and why training works so they develop habits that translate to long-term athletic success.
I founded Reed Performance Lab to give middle and high school athletes access to structured, high-level speed training that is often only available at the collegiate level. My goal is to help athletes become faster, stronger, and more efficient movers while building confidence and discipline through sport.
How We Train
Speed is a skill.
Speed is a skill.
Most youth programs focus heavily on conditioning. But true speed development is rooted in neuromuscular training, biomechanics, and energy system development.
At Reed Performance Lab, we focus on:
• Sprint mechanics and technical efficiency — improving stride length, ground contact time, and force application
• Neuromuscular development — training the nervous system to produce force faster
• Structured energy system development — building the right aerobic and anaerobic capacities for sport
• Progressive overload without burnout — increasing intensity and volume safely over time
• Athlete education — teaching athletes the why behind every drill and session
Athletes don’t just train here — they learn how to train.
Our Vision
At Reed Performance Lab, training is about more than speed. We intentionally develop:
• Discipline & Consistency
• Accountability
• Work Ethic
• Time Management
• Coachability
• Understanding Delayed Gratification
Athletes learn how to approach improvement with structure — a mindset that carries into school, sports, and life.
